SONLUX POWERDISK in the spotlight

For the German-language premiere of the masterpiece "The Employees" by Olga Ravn at the Volkstheater Vienna, our POWERDISK large-area luminaire is in front of the curtain this time and not behind it. During the casting, it impressed the producers with its slim waist and even light distribution.

The performance tells the story of a "six-thousander" spaceship gliding through the vastness of space. The working crew consists of roughly equal numbers of humans and human-like creatures. Those with a beating heart and those that have been artificially created. At first glance, they appear indistinguishable. Their monotonous work is monitored in detail by the faceless and nameless spaceship management.
Although the plot is set 200 years in the future, Danish poet Olga Ravn's debut novel "The Employees" - written in the form of testimonies - creates an ambiguous symbol of our present day. Full of poetic images, she depicts the beauty and pain, the alienation and the crises of legitimisation of the contemporary working world. At the same time, she reflects on the enigmatic boundaries between the human and the non-human.
What if the next upheaval was no longer in the hands of us humans - but in the hands of our machines and artificial intelligence?
